They represent adventure, bravery, and chivalry and have cool armor too! It’s fun to imagine the fantastical adventures these knights may have had, and learning to draw armor can make those fantasies a visual reality.

This guide you are about to go through will show you everything you need to do just that. Step 1:

There’s a lot of intricate detail in this guide on how to draw armor, so we’ll walk you through it step-by-step to ensure you don’t get lost! We’ll start with the outline of the top of the armor. The hull will be the best place to start, and it’s quite an unusual design. It has a sharp tip that leads to the rounded, domed head. This will lead to a small, thin shape forming the edge. We’ll add more helmet details soon, but we’ll move on to the shoulders for now. These will be drawn with more rounded shapes, leading to the first segments of the arms. As mentioned, these details can be tricky, so be sure to take it slow and closely follow the reference image as you draw!

Step 2:

In this second part of your armor design, you will add some details to the helmet and chest armor. First, add wavy lines all over the shell for reflective detail. Then use small rectangular shapes on edge for the eye holes. Next, we will use more curved lines on the chest for the armor plates to complete this step.

Step 3:

We’ll finish the arms and add more detail to the chest in this part of our guide on how to draw armor. We’ll start with the arms, and you’ll use several curved segments to create the component’s forearms and hands. You can then use more curved lines to add a few more sections to the size of the armor to complete this step nicely.

Step 4:

There will be a lot to draw in this part of your armor drawing, but remember there is no rush, so take it easy as you draw! First, we will draw the sword with the hilt at the height of the knight’s hip. This will be removed using many straight lines, as shown in the reference image. Then we can start drawing the legs. Several smaller armor plates will cover his hips which you can remove using curved and wavy lines. Then her legs will be drawn with various segments, which you will also draw with a combination of curved and straight lines. This first stage will then end at the foot, with a few segments. Once it looks like this in our reference image, you’re ready to add some final details in the next step.

Step 5:

First, we will finish the right leg. This shin and foot will look much like what you drew in the previous step, except they’ll be at a slightly different angle. This will suffice for the items in our guide, but feel free to add your details if you wish! You might be thinking that since the armor is metal, there might not be many options on how you can color this armor design. Fortunately, this is not necessarily the case! There are many ways to get creative with your colors for this image. You can also add more vibrant colors to the background or any other element you have drawn for more variation.
